Réspirer, 'Sulhwa Curtural Exhibition 2012' for Amorepacific
2012 Environment

Since 2006, AMOREPACIFIC has been hosting the 'Sulhwa Cultural Exhibition,' an event that reaffirms the value of traditional crafts and arts while promoting Korean aesthetics through supporting works by both traditional and modern artists. In 2012, the exhibition brought attention to Onggi, a traditional Korean earthenware that had been widely used but often overlooked.

The piece titled 'Réspirer', demonstrates new possibilities for Onggi by repurposing it as an architectural material. Onggi's unique property of being air-permeable yet water-resistant inspired the concept of ‘Neo Skin,’ an innovative material for both interior and exterior applications, created by layering and firing Onggi clay in frames, similar to roof tiles.
